Aleksandra Osa, originally from Poland and now living in Greece, brings a deep connection to maritime tradition through her paintings. Her artistic focus lies in finding beauty in everyday subjects, with a special emphasis on the maritime environment, which is close to her heart as a former sailor. Osa’s work combines formal artistic exercises with a study of color, creating compelling pieces that reflect both her personal experiences and the landscapes around her.
One of her notable works, “Waterways no. 3.4” (oil on canvas, 80x80x2 cm), is part of a series dedicated to shipping and maritime aesthetics. This piece exemplifies Osa’s ability to use her surroundings as a canvas for artistic exploration, while maintaining a realistic yet interpretive approach to her subjects. The series reflects her search for beauty and form in the maritime world, which is especially significant given her residence in Greece.
Aleksandra Osa graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2015, and her work has been exhibited internationally in Poland, the UK, Greece, and the USA. Over the years, she has experimented with various mediums, but oil painting remains her preferred form of expression. Her artistic background includes work as an animator for the acclaimed project Loving Vincent, where she contributed to the first fully painted animated film in history.
As a finalist in the category of Painting for the scan.art Emerging Artist Prize 2024, Osa’s work will be displayed at the Finalist Exhibition at Bakerhouse Gallery, Graz, Austria, opening to the public on Friday, October 18th, 18:00. This exhibition presents a unique opportunity to see Osa’s maritime-inspired series and experience her interpretation of form and color in everyday subjects.
