Visitor Award at the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival 2024

scan.art and the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival are excited to announce the winners of the 2024 Visitor Award. The 2024 edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival featured 89 Artists and 149 Artworks which were exhibited for 2 months at the Al Hamra Heritage Village in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The 2 months outdoor festival resulted in almost 15.000 Artwork. The scan.art visitor award, which was established during the 2023 edition of the festival honors the most scanned artworks from three different categories:

  • Overall Winner
  • Sculpture Category
  • Student Category

The winners of each category will receive an online Solo Exhibition on Discover Art, a new online exhibition opportunity for artists on scan.art, as well as Artist Spotlight articles on The Art Fair Guy.

Winners of the 2024 Visitor Award at the RAK Art Festival

Overall Winner – Mohammed Saeed Alshehhi

With his Photograph “Julfae” taken in 2022, Mohammed Saeed Alshehhi was able to secure the Win of the 2024 Visitor Award. The Photograph was taken by the Emirati photographer with a Canon 5D.  It shows a boy with a sword of the Al-Shehhi, Al-Zuhuri and Al-Habsi tribes, which symbolizes the strength and courage of these tribes.

Overall Second Place – Nuwair Alhajeri

With her Photograph “Heritage in my Hands” taken in 2022, Emirati Photographer Nuwair Alhajeri was able to win the overall second place at the 2024 Visitor Award. The Photograph was captured with a NIKON Z9-NIKON Z 7_2.

Photograph Description: Nature offered materials for our grandmothers to make everything in the house in the past. The palm tree is one of the most common resources for making many household tools and it was also used in building, fishing and agriculture.

Overall Third Place – Aleya Almansoori

With her Painting “Jeer Falcon” painted in 2022, Emirati Artist Aleya Almansoori was able to win the overall third place at the 2024 Visitor Award. The original oil on canvas artwork has a size of 90 x 120 cm.

Her work talks about wildlife in the Emirates and about the beauty of the rare falcon type “Gear” and the way it attacks prey, and this is what is called in Emirati heritage “al qanas”, which is falconry.

Sculpture Category Winner – Esraa Ramadan

The Egyptian Artist Esraa Ramadan wins the Visitor Award in the Sculpture Category. Her sculpture “Who Am I?” consists of 80 different clay half faces and full portraits which represent the different reactions that a person can feel. It was completed in 2019.

Sculpture Category Second Place – Shabir Mir

Pakistani Artist and Sculptur Shabir Mir wins the second place in the Sculpture Category of the 2024 Visitor Award. His work “Life” (2022) which is made of Steel Wires with Acrylic Paint has the following description:

Looking through a window can raise questions about the relationship between the observer and the observed. When we look through a window, we are separated from the world outside, and our perception of reality is shaped by our position as an observer.

However, with an opening we allow reality to merge with the observers perception and form a more objective and positive perspective.

Our lives our strands of reality, dreams and aspirations that are woven together to create our own unique world.

Sculpture Category Third Place – Ali Alkhdr

The third place of the Visitor Award in the Category Sculpture goes to Ali Alkhdr. A Syrian plastic artist, sculptor and graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts from Damascus University. His sculpture “Port Royal”, which was made in 2022 of resin is 53cm high and 13cm wide.

Sculpture Description: This work is an allegory that tells about the sunken city of Port Royal in Jamaica. The city was destroyed in the 1692 Jamaica earthquake.
